I’m a democrat who voted for Bernie, and generally while I’m not quite that much of a hippie, he had more stuff I liked. Since before the election I’ve been harping on the democrats need to do more to highlight their core message of using the government to help people who need helping.

I’ve also had the thought in my back of my mind that lots of people really hated Hillary. Partly because here in Wisconsin, which is definitely not a blue state (any more, at least) I interact with people across the political spectrum. The stereotypical right wingers had a similar visceral reaction to Hillary as I and many others do to Trump.

But I’m realizing more and more that it wasn’t only those far-right folks who despised her. Because I don’t think anyone is surprised that the Trump administration is as (potentially) corrupt as they’re turning out to be. They knew what they were getting and didn’t care.

All of which has me slightly encouraged at prospects going forward, as long as we can get people who are not Hillary to run.

As an outsider I wonder where the outright hatred for Hillary comes from. I understand a strong dislike, but the actual hatred I don’t get. To me she’s one of those ‘more of the same’ old school capable but insincere politicians.

That’s basically her problem. Hope and change literally got Obama elected. When he didn’t do as good a job as people expected, the follow up candidate basically saying “It’s my turn!” didn’t win her any voters. Plus she’s flip-flopped on many issues such as gay rights, NAFTA, TPP, immigration, etc . Plus she didn’t have the best track record as Sec of State. She strongly advocated for intervention in Syria  and Libya , with Libya turning into a shit show and stronger intervention in Syria would’ve almost certainly lead to an Iraq 2.0.

I think the hate is more of just a vocal minority. The majority of people who disapprove of her don’t hate her, just don’t want her to be president.
